Third LTT Activity "You Can Save a Tree" was held in Limbazu, Latvia. 
 Limbazu 3 Vidosskola
 implements the Strategic Partnership Project KA229 "Save the Future Not Only Today", 
which runs from 01-11-2018 to 31-10-2020 and is funded with the support 
of the European Union through the Erasmus +

At this meeting, participated:

  • 2 teachers and 3 students from Romania
  • 3 teachers and 3 students from Turkey
  • 3 teachers and 4 students from Czechia
  • 2 teachers and 3 students from Bulgaria
  • teachers and students from Latvia

October 1st, 2019, all the groups arrived the capital and a city tour of Riga was held. The participants had chance to learn about Latvian history. They visited many historical points in Old Town such as, Freedom Monument, Latvian National Theater, Bremen Town Musicians, St. Peter's Church, House of Blackheads, The Cat House. At the end of the day, all groups settled in the hotel in Limbaži.

October 2nd, 2019, after a school trip, project meetings for teachers and students were carried out. Students took pre-test of the mobility. During the second part of the day guests participated an excursion at "Lielezers" Bakery, which is the oldest in the town. And then students attended "Making Paper" workshop. They learnt how to make a new paper form old ones. And each of them made their own paper.

October 3rd, 2019, started with the presentation of the partner countries and continued with another workshop "Planting tree". As the partner school Limbazu 3 Vidosskola is an Eco school, they have planted many trees near the school building up to now. And a new one was added by the help of our students. In the afternoon the participants were on their way to Environmental Education Centre in Salacgriva. The group learnt more about recycling in Latvia through the presentation made by attendant of the centre. After presentation session, both teachers and students participated in workshops; calculating the age of a tree and a fish, forming a musical instruments using wooden materials, matching leaves and trees etc.. When the workshops finished, a tour to Red Cliffs was held. The participants had the opportunity to observe the negative effects of global warming on tree roots emerging from sea water.

October 4th, 2019, two hours of forest expedition in Vijciems was carried out under the leadership of forest attendents. During the expedition, the group learnt how to measure a tree, how to calculate its age, how to get rosin from trees, some tree species mostly grown in Latvia and specialities of these trees. For lunch a camp fire was burnt and students got together around it. An excursion was held to a cone drying facility in the second part of the day.

October 5th, 2019, a trip to Cesis was organized. Participants went to Maija park,Castle park and Medieval Castle complex and see the old town of Cesis. After Cesis trip, the group settled to see Sigulda Castle garden and old town where old houses with traditional crafts are preserved. The group had an opportunity to see the largest cave of Baltics; Gūtmanis Cave.

October 6th, 2019, students attended the last workshop of the mobility "Making Decorations from Paper". They learnt how to design a wall decoration from old book pages. After workshop students took the post-test of the mobility. Project meeting and evaluation test of mobility were done by teachers. The host country prepared Latvian evening with a folklore group and orchestra in traditional costumes and prepared a presentation of local dishes.

Throughout the mobility, participants had opportunity to learn more about;

- how to plant a tree, how to use old papers for decoration, how to make paper from recycle throughout the workshops.

- the work in Latvia, in particular on paper recycling and tree conservation.

- Latvian culture, tradition, educational system and history.

- why preserving a tree is important.

And also the mobility helped participants to,

- interact with friends from different cultures and countries.

- develop awareness of European citizenship.

- improve the common language, English.

At the end of the mobility, objectives of the mobility were fulfilled and all participants were entitled to receive certificates.
